Japanese-oriented designer, Lushka's owner, Masayo was raised in a family-owned
clothing business. Growing up in that environment, fashion was a natural
career choice.
After graduating from art school in Japan, she moved to New York and enrolled
in the Fashion Institute of Technology.
While in school and for years after, she worked in the apparel and accessories
fields in New York with major American designers, and was able to absorb
what's in and what's not.
She's a major handbag lover and is always on the lookout for a bag that
is chic, hip yet most importantly affordable. She never could seem to find
the right one. So she decided to design one. What started out as a simple
idea evolved into a business.
Now she lives in Baltimore, a city much underestimated by many. It's
a city on the move, with an energy and style all its own. The city
inspires her, starting from the waterfront buzz at Fells Point.
For Fall 2003, she added more of her favorite toile designs. Toile
is one of the oldest existing prints and yet remains very attractive to
many people and hot in the market. It is the marriage of a
timeless fabric like toile with a chic design that makes Lushka so unique.
Lushka is constantly on the prowl for new, fun fabrics to
update her line throughout the season.
Lushka's bags are all handmade by Masayo.
Each are unique creations. "I hope you enjoy Lushka's bag as much as I enjoy making them," she says.
